Application Process

How to Become a Teacher on Native Dojo™

Sign-up for a Teacher Account

Fill in the form above and sign-up for a Native Dojo™ Teacher account. Please verify your email address by clicking the link in the confirmation email that is sent to you. And then, please login to complete a short application form and provide some basic information about yourself.

Record Your Self-Introduction Video

In addition to the basic information, you’ll need to 1) write a paragraph describing your background, teaching experience, and interests, and also 2) submit a short, profile video of between 30-90 seconds in length. Our team will review and approved teachers will be notified via email.

03
Sign a Contract with Native Dojo™

You’ll be required to upload the proper documents to finish the standard background check. Once we have verified your identity, you’ll be notified to sign contracts with us. Every process is done online and next thing you know, you’ll be teaching new students across the world!

Teacher Pay

The Basics of Our Payment

Get Paid Per Class

Your earnings are based on the number of classes you teach. Since classes are 50 minutes each, you can think of it as the equivalent of hourly pay. The more classes you teach, the more you can earn. There is no limit on how many classes you want to teach.

Base Pay

The base pay rate is between SGD 21-27 per class which is determined by your tier. Your starting tier is determined by your past teaching experiences but you can upgrade your tier by accomplishing predefined numbers of classes. SGD is Singapore Dollar.

Incentives

There are performance incentives in every class you teach in addition to the base pay. To illustrate, you’ll get extra SG$2 if you show up on time for the online class. Separately, you’ll get extra SG$4 if you get good reviews. So you can make a total of SG$33 (27+6) per class.

Teacher Qualification

What are the requirements to become a Teacher?

Teaching Experience

We recommend that you have at least two years of experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring either at school or at virtual space. Your starting tier is determined by your prior teaching experience or teaching certificates.

Native English-Speaker

You must be a native English speaker who is at least 18 years old. We prefer teachers who are legally eligible to work in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, however, we are more lenient about this legal right.

Reliable Technology

Necessary technology and tools are required to teach in a virtual class, of course. You need a device such as Desktop, Laptop, Macbook, iPad, or Microsoft Surface with a strong internet connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Native Dojo™ offers payment through your Wise (formerly TransferWise) SGD account only. We process payments every Monday (by the end of the business day GMT). Currently, Native Dojo™ does not offer other methods of payment.
Earnings are calculated based on the number of classes you’ve taught and your base pay rate per class, which is SG$21-33 per class, plus Incentives and referral bonuses.
Native Dojo™ does not withhold taxes from independent contractors. As independent contractors, you are responsible for your own taxes in accordance with individual tax jurisdictions or state laws.
There are 1-5 students in the classroom.
Classes can last around 50-55 minutes but the minimum requirement is 50 minutes.
There’s no minimum hour commitment - you can work as much or as little as you’d like.
If you change your mind on your schedule, don’t worry, just give us a heads up.
Yes, you can when teaching with Native Dojo™! You take control of your earnings. Just make sure to change your slot availability accordingly.
The length of time varies depending on your schedule and the preparation time you need. Most applicants take around 1 week from sign up to become a teacher with Native Dojo™.
No, you don’t need a resume but you'll need to prepare following materials:
  • A high-resolution profile image - The picture should be professional, visually appealing, and appropriate for all age groups.
  • A 100-200 words about you - The paragraph describing your background, teaching experience, and interests.
  • A 30-90 seconds self-introduction video - Introduce yourself by name and briefly describe your professional or academic background
Once you start the sign up process, you can always log in back to your account and check your status. We also send you emails at each stage, reminding you what to do for the next step, so keep an eye on your inbox.
  • Official ID Documents, such as Valid Passport, National ID Card or Driver License.
  • A selfie image of you holding your official ID document above.
